the pillows ~ PIED PIPER
the pillows came out with their new album, 'PIED PIPER', yesterday. I really like this album, it has a lot of great new songs on it, plus all the excellent singles that came out since the last album. It's well-rounded and in my opinion better than 2007's 'Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!', with more varied and interesting compositions that catch and keep my attention.
However, I wasn't all that impressed with the pv for the title track...it's a decent video, but nothing too special. The song itself is alright; I really like the intro, but I'm not so keen on the rest...something about the guitar melody just doesn't hook me, maybe because it's rather loud and harsh and doesn't flow smoothly. I prefer some of the other new tracks on the album, such as: 'Last Holiday', 'Tokyo Zombie (the knock came at dead of night)', or 'That's a wonderful world (song for Hermit)'.
